Since I need some inspiration to get back into writing I thought I’d give the WIP meme a go.
Post the first sentence (or three) from every WIP you're currently working on, even if it's very short. Then invite people to ask questions about your WIPs. With any luck, you'll get talking about writing, and the motivation to take that WIP one step closer to completion will appear as if by magic!
Numb3rs/Supernatural
I am currently making progress on this one...
FBI Special Agent Don Eppes noticed the black Impala in his mirror as it pulled in behind him, illuminated by a streetlight he’d just passed. He’d glanced away to check the rest of the traffic behind him before the realisation hit him, he knew that Impala. His eyes went back to the reflection and he determined that the vehicle only held one man, the second that he’d expected to see was apparently not there.
Numb3rs
1. I would love to get this one rolling (sequel to Crosshairs) ...
“Eppes,” AD Wright started, standing and waving Don to a seat.
“Sir.” Don managed to keep the question from his tone as he sat. On the way up in the elevator he’d been wracking his brain for an explanation for this sudden summons to immediately present himself to the ADIC.
“You would remember Bradley James Nelson.”
2. A long stalled, proposed sequel to the Telson series (after Disarmed)...
The prisoner heard the approaching footsteps and could tell that it was more than just one guard. It was also at the wrong time for their normal rounds so that meant it was something different. For that he would show an interest.
3. And another stalled fic...
“I’ve done everything I can for you, Don.” Charlie said as they left the math building at CalSci. It was late and he’d been going over the numbers again in the hope that some previously hidden pattern might emerge that would lead them to the assassin or his target.
“I know.” Don answered tiredly.
4. I don’t know that this one will ever go anywhere but this is a fun scene...
“Don put the gun down.”
“You think you can do this to me, David? Huh?”
“I held a gun on Colby, on my best friend. I can do this.” He never realised that he nervously licked at his lips.
5. This one promises to be fun if I get it going again...
Special Agent Don Eppes groaned and rolled onto his back. His head was killing him. He rubbed his forehead then winced as he hit a tender spot at the edge of his hairline. That brought it all back, the rocky trail and being separated from the ranger that was his partner for the search.
6. A planned response to a hurt_don prompt...
“You’re a fed.”
Unsure where that was leading Don could only nod. His ID was in the other’s hands anyway, he couldn’t exactly deny it.
“I don’t like cops. Or feds.”
7. Not much movement on this one lately ...
He took a deep breath and made a decision.
“What are you doing?”
The movements were slow and methodical as he dropped the magazine out of his Glock before pulling the slide back to eject the round in the breech. “I’m going to give you some time.”
8. No movement on this one for a long time...
“That’s right, Doctor Eppes. You do what we want and we don’t kill your brother.”
Charlie didn’t immediately answer, staring at his brother in the hope of figuring out what he should do. He knew this had to be something that was against the law, given that they’d already stepped well outside it to bring him to this point.
9. This is pretty much all there is on this one...
“You mean he had his own mother whacked so he could escape from jail at her funeral?” Colby asked.
“Starting to look that way.” David answered.
“Man, that’s cold.” Don said.
10. Not sure that this one really belongs here, a re-imagining of the episode Ultimatum with a swap on who gets held hostage...
The rattle in the air conditioning duct sounded again and Don was tense as Colby eased up onto the table. The senior agent stepped back slight, hand up, other hand resting on his gun as he equally hoped it was nothing and was their quarry.
Quarry. How could things have gone so far sideways that they’d be hunting Ian Edgerton?

Hmm, seems I lack somewhat in decent opening lines.
What this also means is that I have too many unfinished ideas floating around. Need to get stuck in.
